Govt. Degree College Vijaypur celebrates National Youth Day


In continuation with the series of programmes being organized by Red Ribbon Club of Govt. Degree College Vijaypur in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society organized Essay writing competition on the eve of “National Youth Day” under the able guidance of worthy Principal Dr. Vandana Gupta. Students of the College actively participated in the events enthusiastically with great interest and zeal by putting their ideas and thoughts in their writings. Program started with the welcome address by Prof. Poonam Kundan (Convener, Red Ribbon Club) where she briefed students about the objective of celebrating National Youth Day. The celebration holds great significance as it aims to share the thoughts and principles of Swami Vivekananda among the youth of India. It serves as a means to awaken the enduring energy of the youth and encourage their significant efforts towards the development of the country. Nearly 35 students of GDC Vijaypur participated in the Essay writing competition. First position was secured by Kajal Choudhary of B.Com Sem-VI second position was secured by Sharda Devi of B.A Sem-IV, third position was achieved Kavya Charak of B.Com Sem-VI and consolation prize was attained by Chandan Kumar of BA Sem VI. The competition was adjudjed by Prof. Anita Jamwal (HOD Political Science), Prof. Ritu Bhagat (HOD Education), Prof. Manoj Heer (HOD Dogri) and Prof. Sonia Devi (HOD Hindi). Principal of the college Dr. Vandana Gupta in her address emphasized upon the teachings and ideals of Swami Vivekananda and also said that every year youth day is being celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of this great educationist and world renown leader. She also advised the students to follow the path of truth and Non-violence as advocated by Swami Vivekananda The competition was coordinated by Prof. Poonam Kundan (Convener, Red Ribbon Club) and co-coordinated by Dr. Naseem Chowdhary, Prof. Renuka Kundal, Dr. Priyanka Ganjoo and Dr. Radhika Rasyal. Trophies and certificates were distributed to all the participants and winners of Painting and Essay writing competition. The refreshment was also distributed to the students during the programme.
