DRIVE TO CLEAN RIVER TAWI BY GREEN WARRIORS of GDC Vijaypur Suryaputri Tawi near Har-Ki-Pauri on 16-04-2024 and 17-04-2024. The program was organized by the convener of Eco-club Prof. Poonam Kundan (Head, Department of Environmental Sciences). During cleanliness drive she briefed the students about the above said activity and explained the various ways by which people can protect water bodies and how our little contribution can save our environment. Further the students of Semester II were also briefed regarding various biotic and abiotic components of the aquatic ecosystem as it is one of the practical in their Curriculum. She further focused on the characteristics of Lotic ecosystems including its biotic and abiotic components. Nearly 35 Green Volunteers of the college actively participated in the two days cleanliness cum awareness drive at Har- Ki- Pauri where they were involved in different types of activities. They were involved in sensitising the general public regarding ill effects of plastic and other waste materials in the water bodies. Some volunteers were involved in the segregation process where they segregated different categories of the waste materials. Principal of the College, Dr. Vandana Gupta congratulated all the volunteers and organisers for organising such type of activities for the students that is the need of the hour. The drive was coordinated by Prof. Poonam Kundan and co-coordinated by Prof. Anita Jamwal and Dr. Priyanka Ganjoo. Refreshment was also distributed to all the volunteers.
